Dear trueSpace7 and V-Ray owner,
Today is an important day in the 23 year
history of trueSpace. We are releasing a major upgrade to
our flagship product with trueSpace7.6, bringing
significant improvements in modeling, animation, rendering
and workflows, plus new direct export to Virtual Earth.Most
of these you might already expect if you've been following
my regular Captain's Blog posts at

What you may not expect is that we are
making trueSpace7.6 available to everyone at no
charge, in a giant step forward to bring high-end 3D
authoring tools to all who want them! We are also releasing
a new version of V-Ray, an upgrade at no charge to all
existing V-Ray owners like yourself. Finally, we are also
making all our video courses available to all, also at no
charge.

Users like yourself have helped shape
trueSpace into what it is today, and we would like to take a
moment to thank you for your support over the years (or
perhaps decades!) that you have been using trueSpace. We
hope you are as excited as we are about this news, that now
everyone will have access to the same 3D software that you
selected as being the best for your needs, and that you'll
be staying with us - the future of Caligari and trueSpace
has many good things in it, and making the software
available at no charge is a new beginning, rather than an
end!
So what do you get that's new in
trueSpace7.6 Modeling has been improved with all new
Point Edit tools that give you more control over your point
edit selections, and which feature new tools such as Vertex
Healing and Edge Sweeps. You will also like the new
real-time Boolean operations on the workspace side, which
feature a construction history so you can move subtracted
parts of your design at any time during your work, or even
change a subtraction to an intersection.
trueSpace 7.6 brings new surfacing options
with it, with welcome additions to our real-time libraries
such as shaders to simulate subsurface scattering,
reflection, refraction, smoke, fire, water, metallic paint,
glass and more. The UV Editor has been improved, to reduce
or remove the need for external UV mapping tools.

Animation has become even easier thanks to
the addition of vertex morphs, and the bones system has been
improved with numerous bug and performance fixes. Real-time
cloth accompanies faster and more accurate real-time
physics, to let you make even more complex real-time scenes!
trueSpace's award winning direct
manipulation interface with its easy-to-use 2D controls
and 3D widgets has always been highly praised by users and
press alike. For version 7.6 we have streamlined many
workflows in extensive collaboration with our Beta testers.
We hope this release will stimulate 3rd
party creation of independent products both free and
commercial thanks to the availability of an SDK. The
availability of trueSpace7.6 to anyone who wants it
also means there will be a large market for models, scripts,
widgets, shaders, tutorials and more, all of which you are
well placed to take advantage of as an experienced
trueSpace7 user.
We are taking the unprecedented step of
making these tools available to everyone for free in order
to stimulate content creation for the present and future
online 3D environments, and so that any artist out there
with a dream can fulfill their vision without finding
themselves trapped by budget limitations. This is
particularly true if their vision includes emerging 3D
online worlds, where free and unrestricted communities of
web artists can collaborate on 3D projects and even
establish new kinds of communities the likes of which the
world has never seen before, way beyond simple chats in
isolated 3D rooms or 3D islands.

This new release of V-Ray features bug fixes
and optimizations. These include a fix to a memory leak
allowing larger scenes, larger format renders and longer
animations to be rendered without running out of memory; a
fix to glass showing up as too dark under GI; a fix to the
diffuse channel in shaders under GI; a fix to transparent
shadows under GI; and a fix to unexpected slow rendering
speed.
Note that this update free update to V-Ray
is only available at no charge to existing V-Ray owners.
