"How do I make an animated fire in trueSpace?" This was one of
my first questions when I joined the trueSpace Mailing List. It
was one of my primary missions when I first got the program. It
had always been a source of thorough frustration.

After over a year of trying, I think I've got something that
looks decent enough to use with most trueSpace scenes.

The texture for the fire object was created in Paint Shop Pro,
applied to a half-sphere, animated much the same way the Smoke
object was created, and rendered to a 120 frame Targa sequence.
Alpha channels were added through a long and (shall I say)
tedious bout with the trueSpace Image Utilities.

Instructions for Use
====================

Unlike most of the other objects on Dub's trueSpace F/X page,
this one is going to require a little bit of work on your part.
Unzip the fire.cob into your \truspace\objects directory, and the
targa sequence wherever you keep your textures. Load fire.cob
into your scene, then paint fire001.tga onto your object using
flat shading. Make sure to check the ANIMATE box. The object
will repeat the 120-frame series over the course of your
animation.

Please contact me via e-mail at eswan@cris.com if you have any
further questions.
